Wilderness Ranch Summer Update
August 18, 2015

Cowboy Logic: “Don’t go where the path may lead;
go instead where there is no path, and leave a trail.”
Good afternoon to each one. I feel like I have chosen a good afternoon to sit in my basement and type out an email! It's about 25 degrees outside and feels like 33! It is definitely cooler down here.

My wife and I were just talking the other day at how fast the summer has gone - it seems that it has just flown by. But then again they do say time flies when your having fun! We truly do have lots of fun around here looking after all the animals and making hay for winter feed. Maybe the saying should be " Time flies when you are busy!" That we have been here this summer - it seems like the work just never ends. I finally stroke one job off the list and it seems there are a few more get added to it.
To say the least, we have been enjoying the very nice weather this summer! We have received an abundant amount of rainfall which has translated to lots of grass, and lots of bales of hay for the winter!
Beef
Our beef continues to be the corner stone of our meat business and it seems like there are more and more people clamoring for a piece of Wilderness Ranch grass fed beef.
The date is set for the beef harvest this fall! We have booked the animals in 2 weeks ahead of schedule this year, so we should have your beef ready two weeks earlier for those of you that are getting a half or a whole animal. Also just a note of interest for anyone that maybe thinking of ordering a half or whole for this year yet. We do have a couple of animals available yet but supply is very limited.
Pork
Our pork continues to be a hot item with those of you that have tried it. I must say that we really enjoy the pork as well. I was not a very big pork eater because I didn't really like the way the pork from the store tasted. There was no taste to the meat, and it dried out like shoe leather. The cuts that were good were most likely injected with water and tenderizer.

So, I set out to find better pork, and to grow a better tasting pig! What we have done is partnered with my brother on this venture are using Heritage breed pigs (Berkshires, and Tamworth). The outcome of this meat is astounding! Never have I ever tasted bacon so yummy, sausage so tasty, or ribs so succulent. I think we have hit a jackpot with this pork. The other great thing with pork is the life cycle of a pig is much shorter so it is much easier to have pork ready to be harvested at any time of the year.
Try our pork and you will see it really is as good as we say it is!
Chickens
The Good News is that we are receiving a fresh batch of our Pasture Raised Chickens tomorrow! We are definitely learning as we go along, with the chickens especially! This year we will have lots of the smaller sized chickens! So if you would like some of our pasture raise chickens, be sure to let us know.
Deliveries
We have set up a few delivery locations in conjunction with another producer. This has been working excellent so far, and is by far the most economical shipping. We charge 10 dollars per order for the shipping with this service.
Visit our website for full details on how this service works and where our current locations are. We will be adding more locations in the near future so keep checking back to see where they are.
Rewards Program
Not sure if all of you know how this program works or not so I thought I would take the time to explain it again.
There is a little white Rewards Program button on the right side of your screen on our website. For the program to work you need to have an account on our store. Also to check your points balance and what rewards you may be eligible for, you need to be logged into your store account.
Once you place an order through the website, our Reward Program will add a point for every dollar you spend to your account. Also, if you refer a friend to us, and they make a purchase, you will be rewarded with an extra 1000 points! That's 10.00 worth just for referring your friend! So go ahead and let your friends know about us and save on your next order.

Redeeming Points
To redeem your points log into your store account, then click the white button on the right side of your screen. It will show you your points balance and what rewards you qualify for. Click  the redeem button beside the discount you would like, then confirm it. You will be shown a coupon code which you can copy and paste into the proper box on the check out page and you will receive a discount on your order. The coupon code will be emailed to you as well.

It truly is a pleasure to be able to supply each one of you with healthy meats that you can trust has been raised with care and integrity.

Thank you once again for supporting your local, sustainable, sun-harvesting, grass-farming farmer!
Let's work together towards a brighter tomorrow, one bite at a time!

We look forward to hearing from you!

From all of us here at Wilderness Ranch we wish you a safe and happy rest of the summer.
